There is something deeply comforting about remembering that we are part of nature - not separate from it.
Just as the tides respond to the moon, many people find themselves moving through cycles of energy, rest, creativity, and reflection throughout the month.
While modern life often encourages us to push forward at the same pace every day, ancient wisdom reminds us that there is power in honouring natural rhythms.
At The Alchemy Room, I believe wellness is not simply about fixing what feels wrong. It is about creating space to listen to the body, reconnect with yourself, and work in harmony with the cycles around you.
One beautiful way to do this is by aligning your self care and reflexology practice with the lunar cycle.
The Moon as a Guide
The lunar cycle moves through four phases:
New Moon - a time of beginnings, intention, and renewal
Waxing Moon - a period of growth and momentum
Full Moon - a time of illumination, release, and reflection
Waning Moon - an invitation to rest, intergrate, and let go
Each phase offers a different energetic invitation, and reflexolgy can support you whereever you are in the cycle.
New moon: Awakening New Energy
The New Moon is often associated with fresh starts. It is the dark sky before something new begins to emerge.
Solar Plexus Reflex:
The solar plexus is associated with confidence, intention, and inner direction. Gentle stimulation here can encourage a sense of clarity as you set goals for the weeks ahead.
Adrenal Reflexes:
Supporting the adrenal reflexes may help encourage resilience and balanced energy, particularly when life feels demanding.
Pituitary Reflex:
Often called the "master gland", the pituitary reflex is linked to the body's hormonal communication system and can symbolically represent creating balance before embarking on something new.
Spine Reflex:
Working along the spine reflex can help encourage the free flow of energy throughout the body and support feelings of alignment and grounding.
A New Moon Ritual
Before bed, spend a few minutes massaging your feet with a nourishing oil.
As you work around the solar plexus areas, ask yourself:
What am I ready to create?
Allow your intentions to settle into the quiet space of the New Moon.
Full Moon: Release, Reflect, and Restore
The Full Moon has long been associated with heightened emotions, illumination, and completion. It shines a light on what may need attention and often encourages us to release what no longer serves us.
This is where reflexology beautifully mirrors the alchemical process of transformation.
In alchemy, transformation begins by clearing away what is no longer needed before something new can emerge. The Full Moon invites the same practice.
Full Moon Foot Care Ritual
Create a simple evening ritual designed to calm the nervous system and encourage deep relaxation.
A warm Foot Soak
Add Epsom salts and a few drops of lavender essential oil to warm water.
Allow yourself twenty minutes to soften, breathe and unwind.
Gentle Exfoliation
Use a natural foot scrub to remove dry skin, symbolising the release of stagnant energy and old patterns.
Nourishing Foot Balm
Massage a rich balm or oil into the feet with slow, mindful movements.
As you do, consider:
What am I ready to let go of?
Reflexology Areas for Full Moon Support
Kidney Reflexes
Traditionally associated with cleansing and balance, these reflexes can be incorporated into a deeply restorative treatment.
Bladder Reflex
Often included alongside kidney work to support the body's natural elimination processes.
Diaphragm Line
Working the diaphragm reflex may encourage deeper breathing, relaxation, and emotional release.
Solar Plexus
A wonderful area to calm an overactive mind and soothe emotional tension.
Lymphatic Reflex Areas
Gentle work in these areas can support the body's natural drainage and cleansing processes while encouraging a feeling of lightness.
Head and Brain Reflexes
Located on the big toes, these reflexes can be especially soothing when thoughts feel busy or emotions are heightened.
The Waning Moon: The Integration Phase
After the brightness of the Full Moon comes the Waning Moon - a quieter phase that invites rest and reflection.
This is a beautiful time to recieve reflexology simply for relaxation.
Rather than focusing on goals or release, the intention becomes integration.
What have you learned?
What wisdom are you carrying forward?
Just as nature pauses before beginning again, we too benefit from moments of stillness.
Your feet as an Alchemical Map
In reflexology, the feet are often viewed as a mirror of the body.
At The Alchemy Room, I like to think of them as something more: an alchemical map.
Every reflex point represents an opportunity to listen more closely, release tension, restore balance, and reconnect with yourself.
The moon reminds us that life is not meant to be lived in constant state of doing.
There are seasons for action.
There are seasons for rest.
There are moments for releasing.
And there are moments for beginning again.
By combining reflexology with the wisdom of the lunar cycle, we create a gentle ritual for self care that honours both the body and the rhythms of nature.
Because the true transformation isnt about forcing change.
It's about creating the conditions for it to unfold naturally.
At The Alchemy Room, that is the heart of the work: turning moments of stillness into opportunities for transformation - one step at a time.
